    With 2018 likely being the final season for Benny Snell Jr. in Lexington, finding a running back was a top priority for the Wildcats. Mark Stoops found one of the best available as Three Star Running Back Kavosiey Smoke Signs With Kentucky.

    The five foot ten player from Wetumpka, Alabama ranks as the 29th best running back in the nation by Rivals. In addition Smoke is the fifth best unsigned back so this is a huge pickup for Kentucky.

    Smoke chose the Wildcats over Florida Atlantic and North Carolina. The Tar Heels were the leader for months however the Cats were able to come in late and get his commitment. Following the unexpected transfer of freshman Bryant Koback the Cats needed depth in the backfield.

    Smoke led his team to a 13-2 record in his senior season and a birth in the Class 6A State Championship game. However they lost to Pinson Valley 31-10. In the title game Smoke ran for 66 yards and a touchdown. In addition he caught two passes for 31 yards. As a point of interest Pinson Valley is led by LiAllen Dailey, a three star wide receiver who committed to Kentucky on January 21st.

    Smoke visited Lexington last weekend and tweeted out a picture from his visit that got the Big Blue Nation excited.

    Filling A Position Of Need

    Including Snell the Wildcats have only four running back on scholarship for 2018. Sihiem King and AJ Rose return with each seeing playing time last season. Kentucky inked one other running back in this year’s class Chris Rodriguez out of Georgia. The Wildcats also have Lynn Bowden Jr. who can see playing time at running back.
