USC got the talented local duo from Hawkins High School in Los Angeles they coveted so much. Wide receiver Joseph Lewis and athlete Greg Johnson sat side by side at their school gym and both announced they were committing to the Trojans. Their letters of intent followed soon thereafter.
USC Gets Coveted Local Duo
Johnson was the #4 wide receiver recruit according to 247Sports and the #3 overall player from California. He had 555 receiving yards to go with seven touchdowns as a senior and also had 700 yards as a kick and punt returner. With the early departure of Juju Smith-Schuster to the NFL, receiver was a key recruiting focus for USC.
Minutes later the Trojans landed Johnson. At 5-10, 183, he has played running back and defensive back at Hawkins. He had 1,377 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns his senior season. Because of his size, he is more likely to see action sooner at defensive back for USC.
The Trojans will look to their new recruits for production, and it could come as early as next season with these talented freshman.
