National signing day is here, and we already have an early morning surprise. In one of the earliest moves, it the UCLA Bruins coming up with a surprising early commit. This recruit will help their offensive line in the coming years.
UCLA Gets Stephan Zabie
UCLA got the shocker when Stephan Zabie, the 6-5, 290 pound offensive lineman from Westlake, Texas committed to the Bruins on National Signing Day. ESPN has him as the #24 offensive tackle in the country. The =scouting reports list him as having great arm length, quick feet and a great frame, but he needs to work on his fundamentals, having only begun to play football in 2015. He also missed his senior season due to ineligibility due to a transfer.
UCLA’s offensive line was the Achilles’ heel of the team last season. The Bruins had the #127 rushing offense due mostly to poor run blocking. Zabie is the fourth offensive line commit of the recruiting season for head coach Jim Mora. The Bruins beat out Ole Miss and his home state of Texas for the commit.
The Bruins hope that the influx of talent on the offensive line will help the team turn that around and be more productive offensively in the coming years.
