Kevin Wilson‘s next coaching stop will apparently be in Columbus, OH.
Ohio State is close to naming Wilson as its next offensive coordinator, CrimsonQuarry.com reported Tuesday citing a source close to the situation. An official announcement is expected to come later in the day.

Kevin Wilson to be Named Ohio State Offensive Coordinator
Wilson will replace Tim Beck, who is set to join former Buckeyes assistant Tom Herman‘s staff at Texas. It remains to be seen whether Ed Warriner, who was co-offensive coordinator with Beck, will be retained. Both were under fire in the wake of OSU’s 31-0 defeat to Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl on Friday.
The 55-year-old Wilson spent the previous six seasons as head coach of the Indiana Hoosiers. He compiled a 26-47 overall record during his tenure in Bloomington. But IU noticed gradual improvement, including the previous two years where he finished the regular season at 6-6.
This helped the program reach bowl eligibility in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1991.
Despite IU football appearing to be on a sound course under Wilson, he faced criticism at the conclusion of the 2016 season as reports of player mistreatment began to surface. As a result, he resigned on December 1st, being replaced by defensive coordinator Tom Allen. Allen led a remarkable turn around of Indiana’s defense after just a year in that capacity.
Wilson has an incredible track record as an assistant. Before taking the head coaching job at Indiana, he was offensive coordinator at Oklahoma from 2002-10. In 2008, he took home the prestigious Broyles Award which annually goes to the top assistant coach in college football.
It’s believed that Wilson won’t be the only offensive-minded coach added to Urban Meyer’s staff. According to Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman, former San Francisco 49ers quarterbacks coach Ryan Day is expected to take the same position at OSU. He could also share coordinator responsibilities with Wilson.
Adding a bit of irony to this situation, the Buckeyes 2017 season opener is against the same Indiana Hoosiers team Wilson departed. The game will take place on Thursday, August 31st in Bloomington.
