Game Recap

South Florida struck first. On the opening play from scrimmage, Flowers found a wide open Rodney Adams for an 84-yard touchdown. The Seminoles answered quickly with a 75-yard touchdown run by Cook. The Bulls regained the lead following a nine play, 72-yard drive capped by a one yard touchdown run by Marlon Mack. Florida State responded with 31 straight points to take a 38-14 halftime lead.

South Florida had a chance to swing the momentum back into its favor coming out of the locker room. The Bulls were able to recover a Francois fumble in Seminoles territory on Florida State’s first drive of the second half. However, South Florida gave the ball right back to Florida State on the very next play. Senior saftey, Nate Andrews, picked off Flowers giving the Seminoles the ball back on their own five yard line. Florida State then marched 95 yards on a 10-play drive concluded by a Jacques Patrick two yard touchdown run.

South Florida eventually answered with a touchdown of its own late in the third quarter fueled by long runs of 48 and 24 yards by Flowers and D’Ernest Johnson. Florida State answered with Ricky Aguayos second field goal of the game bringing the score to 48-21. Flowers’s running ability led the Bulls to two more touchdown drives late, but Florida State was able to answer with a touchdown of its own and by milking the final seven and a half minutes of clock to seal the victory.

Saturday’s game left both teams with identical records as the Seminoles, and Bulls are now sitting at three and one on the year.
